In this video I show you how to quickly check the polarity of a speaker. The reason I'm using the power inverter is because it's quick and easy for me to use and it's better for demonstration purposes. You do run the risk of damaging the speaker if you check this way or with a car battery, but since the owner was going to toss these speakers away it was a great way to show how to figure which wire is positive and negative in the car. The safest way to check is just using a little 9 volt battery. It's enough to drive the speaker to see which direction it's pushing but not so much you're making it push or pull its full excursion.

Taking apart a Samsung Impression to replace the digitizer w/flex cable and the flex cable that opens and closes when the phone is opened and closed. Thanks to bkroo45 for his video, www.youtube.com which made it possible for me to take mine apart. Here are the steps which take you up to the 4:42 mark: 1. Remove battery and sim card and unscrew 6 screws along the top and bottom edge. 2. Carefully, pry off the back cover starting with the bottom edge (near send and end buttons). 3. Pry up the little round speaker-be careful! 4. Unclip the antenna wire at the bottom right of the main board. 5. Unclip the flex ribbon at the bottom left of the main board. 6. Pop up, but do not unclip, the speaker at the top left of the main board. 7. Fold the main board to the right and unclip the flex ribbon from the underneath. The main board is now free. 8. Remove 6 screws from the silver frame. 9. Remove 1 screw from the antenna on the bottom right of the phone. 10. Pop up the antenna and remove the 2 screws from the cover underneath and then remove the cover. 11. Remove the silver internal frame. Be careful not to damage the flex ribbon. 12. Remove the keypad. 13. Remove the 1 screw that hold down the flex ribbon. 14. Remove the 2 screws that hold the keypad frame to the slide section. 15. Remove the keypad frame from the slide section. As usual, I delivered an original mechanical setup that can be exploited and improved by those who want to generate electricity in small or large amounts. More power requires more powerful magnets and wider coil diameters. I do not like to handle the big ones and am always trying to combine small magnets to achieve bigger magnets strength. I would like to learn more about existing strategies used to combine magnets for the purpose of increasing strength. As you can see in this video clip, I added one additional magnet to each side of the six magnetic "goalposts." The two magnets that made up the original magnetic gap are restrained at the lower end by a few turns of copper wire. The added magnets are simply hanging above the copper wire by their own magnetic strengths. This trick can be used to increase the height of the gap. The gap will get taller to accommodate coils with wider diameters. However, the additional increase in height also makes the gap wider on top. Make sure that the plywood clip will not collapse inward by the addition of more magnets. I am sure that some of you will find better ways to built a magnetic "goalpost."

Hey guys! This is a three part tutorial on how to install and convert your analog proto 2000 locomotive to a DCC locomotive with LED lights installed. I get my lights from Evan designs, they can be purchased from "modeltrainsoftware.com." The decoders I use are digitrax DN143IP, but a digitrax DH123PS will work just as well if you can get it to fit. The locomotive I use in this video is a walthers proto 2000 RS27. Remember, on proto 2000 locomotives the blue wire goes to the positive lead, and the white wire is the negative. LEDS withOUT capacitors will need to be installed the right way, or it will not work. I this video i am repairing a vintage FISHER CA-39A solid-state amplifier. After troubleshooting I replaced the hybrid amplifier IC STK4191-II (ECG1316 equiv.), a few capacitors and a two 4 amp fuses. Some dummy put a 32V 25A automotive fuse in where a AGC-4A should have been. Bad speaker and the wrong fuse causes the amp to short out. Used an ECG replacement manual to lookup the internal schematic of the chip and used the ohmmeter to find the short. I fixed the unit and it does sound very good.

It is a dolby headphone decoder unit that adds virtual surround sound to any stereo headphone or headset for 90 dollars while Astro's Mixamp sells for 130 dollars. So the DSS is more of a mixamp for those with budget in mind. But as with everything, you're getting what you pay for. There are some differences in features between the Astro Mixamp and the Turtle Beach DSS. - Virtual surround sound is the same. Turtle Beach advertises the DSS as a 7.1 decoder, but optical signals cannot transfer over 5.1. What Turtle Beach does here is emply Dolby Pro Logic IIx that takes 2 channels from the 5.1 signal and then duplicates them(matrixes them) to add 2 more channels. So it's sort of like you have 2 more speakers playing the exact same sound as the other speakers are playing, doesn't really provide another cue of positioning. ok i was going to just take the first towers "word for it" after i heard them and just get these shot before i wired up the 2nd one. I couldnt take it, i had to hear them! I know i already showed SOME of the wiring in a past video but this time i showed a little more and explained some of it in better detail. Everything is basicly in series/parallel to come up with a final impedance for each amp. I also did one last "distance" test with these that you wont believe! These things can be heard from INSIDE my shop, about 3 football fields away. Subscribe to see that!! this is an update to my project that i am working on. It is a 2 crown xti 4000's (bass) and 2 crown 2000w amps..... The Towers EACH will have (8) 7" Ascendant Audio Carbon mids, (4) Morel Tweeters and 1 Ascendant Audio SMD 18" woofer. There is 2 18" Passive radiators in each tower to reinforce the LOW LOWS! Everything is all Actively crossed over, no passives at all. October 2008 edit: To really play a record with no electricity whatsoever, please see www.youtube.com I have recently discovered this method. I always had an interest of vintage sound reproductions. I was fiddling with my records and makeshift horns and was plesently surprised that it can actually reproduce sounds! The sound quality is not as superior as you can hear via electronic speakers, but hey, its only made out of paper! :P The best records to play with are wider groove records- microgroove records doesnt tend to respont too well as the "needle" on the horn is wider than a microgroove. You may also want to try it on original 78's (they have even wider grooves) as those were originally played in a very similar way. I dont own a 78 so I never tried it. It works best with stronger paper- about 100-120gsm(not card though). Also, you shouldnt press the needle too hard. The needle (and horn) will only last for several minutes before the needle gets blunt- this can only be used for several minute's fun. To be honest, needles in gramophones only lasts for one play anyways! October 2008 edit: To really play a record with no electricity whatsoever, please see www.youtube.com I have recently discovered this method. I always had an interest of vintage sound reproductions. I was fiddling with my records and makeshift horns and was plesently surprised that it can actually reproduce sounds! The sound quality is not as superior as you can hear via electronic speakers, but hey, its only made out of paper! :P The best records to play with are wider groove records- microgroove records doesnt tend to respont too well as the "needle" on the horn is wider than a microgroove. You may also want to try it on original 78's (they have even wider grooves) as those were originally played in a very similar way. I dont own a 78 so I never tried it. It works best with stronger paper- about 100-120gsm(not card though). Also, you shouldnt press the needle too hard. The needle (and horn) will only last for several minutes before the needle gets blunt- this can only be used for several minute's fun. To be honest, needles in gramophones only lasts for one play anyways!
