This is my finished product after building a Mini-Kits EME117ver3 137MHz Weather Satellite Receiver. I enclosed the receiver board into a case purchased from Jaycar and added accessories such as power, Speaker volume, RX LED, Vernier precision potentiometer with analog dial for tuning and a backlit signal meter. An internal speaker is added so you can listen to the signal, but a secondary mono output connects from the back of the receiver to the soundcard the computer for reception and is set internally. RF comes in via a standard RF connector from the back with 50 Ohm impedance and the entire receiver runs from a 12V DC supply. A 500mA fuse has been added in the back panel for protection. I originally constructed a six position rotary channel switch which used six individual tuning pots for each frequency. Due to drift and the inability to tune to Doppler shift changes, I opted for the vernier dial control. The vernier dial is much simpler and only has three wires connected to the main receiver board and in circuit looks just like a single three pin pot. Overall the project is very good and a lot of fun to build. I currently am using only my amateur 2m/70cm Omni-directional antenna. It works but not so great once the satellites are overhead do to the flat angle of radiation my vertical antenna has. I plan to build a more specialised antenna soon called a Quadrifilar Helix Antenna that works very well for NOAA APT Reception and will make a big difference to the reception ...

DIY with Mike Stiers www.maxxsonics.com Back to Basics -- Car Audio 101 By Mike Stiers So you've decided to upgrade your car stereo system? A great deal of research and planning should go into this purchase since there is a lot to consider. Do you desire a nice upgrade of your factory speakers, are you looking for a Sound Quality overall of speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers, or are you designing a vision-blurring SPL machine? It is important to make a list of exactly what you are looking to replace or add to your audio system so that you can prepare your electrical system for the investment to come. Many people do not realize that their vehicles' factory electrical system was not designed for aftermarket audio equipment. In fact, most factory electrical systems can only handle an audio system of 600 to 1200 watts. The lower end of the scale being the smaller vehicles and most foreign rides, and the upper end being large trucks and sport utility vehicles. As you increase demand, you need to look at upgrading your battery, alternator and most importantly your "Big 3." ALTERNATORS The alternator powers the vehicle, all components and recharges the battery. A standard factory alternator ranges from 40 amps to 120 amps depending on vehicle. When the alternator is under high demand or the demand exceeds the alternators capability, your voltage will begin to fall and rely on the reserve of the battery. Lets use a 65 amp alternator for example in determining what aftermarket ...

How to Repair Headphone Wires Video Clips. Duration : 6.47 Mins.
Hello, Welcome to my fourth installment to my Headphone Repair series. In this video I show how to fix the headphone wire itself. A lot of time a short can occur in the wire (instead of at the plug like I show in my other Headphone videos). Also, headphones wires can get cut or damaged very easily. This video shows you a simple way to make these types of repair. To purchase an inexpensive wire stripper and electrical tape, check out my Amazon Store. The link is located on my homepage on the right side or by clicking this link: astore.amazon.com

Best Deadmau5 Head EVER! Video Clips. Duration : 3.73 Mins.
The deadmau5 head that I made and took to the concert at Soldier Field in Chicago! The thing on the ear is the backstage pass that Deadmau5 personally gave me himself, Joel and his manager both said it was one of the best one's that they have ever seen, and it was only the first one, of many to come, that I have ever made. He signed the back of the head, "Dood, best head EVER! Mau5 Joel Zimmerman"! He also wore it on stage during his set! I move around so much to demonstrate the stability and perfect fit of the Mau5head, which is fully ajdustable, so anyone can wear it!!! Sorry, the Tutorial video is taking longer than expected. In the mean Time here is a list of materials that I used to make this: 1 x 14" acrylic globe (I got mine from www.superiorlighting.com) 1 x 13' legth of sound activated EL wire (www.thatscoolwire.com) (with optional 12v battery pack) 1 x 17' legth of sound activated EL wire (I also bought clear plastic mounts for the mouth off of the same website) (also with optional additional 12v battery pack) 1 x Fully adjustable Hard hat (from Lowe's or similar) 2 x Skyballs for the eyes (from wallmart or similar) 1 x 1.5" thick insulation foam board (I got this from Lowe's, it only came in like a 4'x8' sheet) 1 x 0.5" thick styrofoam board (same deal as the insulation foam) 4 x threaded rods (about 1/4-3/8" thick, and at least 6" long) 16 x washers for the rods 16 x nuts for the rods 4-6 yds of fabric 0.5 yds sheer fabric (for the mouth) 1 x chicken wire (for ...

For more information on this vehicle visit tinyurl.com This sinister 1969 Mustang pro-tourer is a take-no-prisoners muscle car which is ready to compete, drive or race anytime and anywhere! All of this Mustangs solid panels were stripped to bare metal and thoroughly worked to transform it from a nice piece of machinery into a trophy winning piece of art. Once that canvas was as close to perfect as possible, and displayed excellent fit and finish, a dynamic coat of Raven Black urethane was expertly applied, sealed in a glossy clearcoat shell and buffed to a fantastic shine. Pull the pins on this awesome Mustangs solid steel hood and you'll find an 800 horsepower, 557 cubic inch Jon Kaase V8 which twists out 750 lb./ft. of torque and wears some of the best aftermarket components on the planet. At the top of the engine, a bright blue air cleaner feeds a chrome 1050cfm Holley carburetor through a K&N reusable filter which sits just inside the cars fully functional hood scoop. Below that carburetor, a silver powder coated Jon Kaase alloy intake is bolted between Kaase Boss 9 aluminum heads which have been fitted with silver powder coated "Boss 557" valve covers and finished with chrome K&N crankcase breathers. Below those heads, 10.4 to 1 pistons combine with a roller cam to create explosive combustion; and in front of those heads, a reliable points distributor sends fire through blue Jon Kaase racing wires which have been fitted with MSD end caps. Camaro Scosche Dash Kit Review Video Clips. Duration : 7.43 Mins.
A quick overview of my install of the new Scosche Dash Kit for the 2010 - 2012 Camaro. I replaced my Metra kit with this and overall, I like it better so I'll be keeping it. The Good: * The install was MUCH easier than the Metra kit - basically plug and play (just follow the directions - not many wires to splice and there isn't another box you need to tuck under there. * Most importantly: the kit looks better than the Metra in my opinion, a little more like how a stock setup should have been for a 2010 Camaro (that old radio is UGLY and the metra was plain) * The touch screen controls work nice (although there's a little glare) and the steering wheel controls work like stock * Most of the car settings are supported and controlled within the touch screen (that's a separate unit for the Metra kit). The Bad: * The two pieces of the unit (face and bottom piece) are glued together and not all that well. It separated on me just a little. * Getting the head unit to fit right was a chore - had to screw the kit back in an out a few times and bend the brackets a bit to make it fit right. Even then, the gap at the top is a little more obvious than it should be. * The directions could have included some actual diagrams on how to get the center console / dash apart (instead of just text descriptions with part #s). * The speaker that produces the door chimes, blinkers, and back-up sensors is mounted somewhere inside the kit and sounds a little cheap * Doesn't come with Onstar support ...

My music and teaching blog: mostlynoise.wordpress.com flavors.me kriskerzman.tumblr.com sites.google.com HD version I am playing this ethereal and subtle work on my 2010-2011 recitals. I filmed my last performance in October, however, the technical challenges of playing and recording in addition to getting the amplification right were too great. So I restaged a recording in the chapel at Loyola High School, Los Angeles, where I teach. A few words of unsolicited advice for others wanting to play this piece: I spent quite a bit of time experimenting with different speaker/teapot combinations to find a pair that best expressed the harmonics. As a general rule, I found that the rounder teapots worked best, but they tend to have small lids, making it difficult to get the speaker inside. I used Blu-Tak to affix the speaker to the bottom of the pot. For this particular pot, the spout was too small to get the plug through, as well. So I had to cut the wire, thread the line through the teapot, then reattach it to another line. I have tried several different mics to amplify the pot, too. Generally, small diaphragm condensers work best. I had many problems, however, with feedback. For this video, I used a Shure SM58 directly into a powered JBL speaker. The very good off axis rejection of this mic eliminates feedback, but it is not very sensitive. For the recording, I placed a portable Sony recorder close-by and mixed it into the soundtrack as best I could with iMovie. I will be ...

How to Peter Green Mod a Les Paul Style Guitar Video Clips. Duration : 10.23 Mins.
In this video I use an Agile AL-3100 to demonstrate how to turn the magnet around in a humbucker to take the pickup out of phase magnetically, and create that Peter Green or Gary Moore signature tone when both pickups are active and the volume pots are set to the same volume for each pickup. Gear used: Agile AL-3100 Guitar - Stock humbuckers Phaez Amp - Trainwreck Rocket Clone (For results demo at end) Celestion Super 65 Speaker in a homemade speaker cab I apologize for the blur or "blair witch" motion in some of the clips. I had to hold the flip camera and do the work at the same time for some of this, and I wasn't able to see the screen to see that it was blurry. I don't suspect it will be a problem. You should be able to see all the necessary shots. DISCLAIMER! Proceed at your own risk. You can ruin a pickup very easily if you're not careful!!

replacing audio cables on a technics 1210 mk2 part 1 Video Clips. Duration : 9.98 Mins.
this is a video showing you how to change the audio cables on a technics 1200 or a 1210 as they are both the same just 1210s are black and 1200 are silver. i have disabled coment and rating on part one if you want to leave coments or rate please do in on part 2 thank you. INFO: depending on the wattage of your soldering iron depends on how long you will have to hold the tip on the conection before the solder melts, for exsample a 10 to 20 watt soldering iron will take longer than say a 25 to 40 watt soldering iron. it doesent really matter weather you use lead or lead free solder but bear in mind that lead free has a higher tin content than leaded solder and contains more flux so its harder to melt also leaded solder is soter but lead free solder is more brittle than lede solder. WARNIGS: make shure you unplug the turntable before unscrewing or opening. be careful not to breake any of the thin wires from the tone arm as they are a very delicate. Never turn the turntable upside down without any type of cushion under underneath it you could damage the tone arm, and be careful if youre using the turntable dust cover to support the turntable whilst its upside down the plastic they are made from is very brittle.

Scion tC broken rear hatch handle panel repair tutorial Tube. Duration : 3.93 Mins.
Scion tC's are great little cars. Lots of fun to drive and very popular. Unfortunately, they seem to suffer from a common defect. With enough use, the rear hatch release panel will break off due to the flimsy plastic anchor points beneath the panel that get brittle with age and weakened with use. I've seen several tC's around my own town that have had the panels broken. New, color matched replacement panels are available online as of this posting for 8 plus shipping, but of course, you need to be able to disassemble the handle switch, logo, etc. and re-install on the new panel, which is not only throwing money down the tubes, but time consuming and a hassle. I created this vid as a DIY tutorial if you want to repair it yourself for around and about a half hour to hour of your time. A little more care with future use as described in the vid and the repair should hold indefinitely. One thing I failed to mention in the vid is to be sure that the release switch wire that goes to the handle grip is tucked out of the way before refastening the panel. You don't want to pinch these wires for obvious reasons. Update: In order for the simple repair shown in the video to work, you need to retrain yourself on how to open the rear hatch. If you have a spoiler, simply squeeze the handle release with one hand and use the other up under the spoiler to lift the rear hatch. Otherwise, reach underneath the hatch and lift the panel via the lower lip of the panel (as shown in the vid ...

Make a real working paper plate speaker for under .00! www.thekingofrandom.com To all the MythBusters fans out there .. No offense to MythBusters is intended. I realize they busted the HouseholdHacker project that claimed using aluminum foil and a penny would work. However, I was motivated on this project mainly by the statement that "a paper plate speaker for less than a dollar, really is just too good to be true". This video is meant to be a fun way to show it can be done under . If copper wire is an issue, the TV hacking is to demonstrate that copper wire is everywhere, not just in stores. I hope you like it! WARNING Do not try hacking your TV at home. The capacitors may hold a charge and pose a risk of electric shock. This project should not be attempted without adult supervision and adequate training. Misuse, or careless use, of tools or projects may result in serious injury or death. Use of this video content is at your own risk. Music by www.danosongs.com (Gem Droids) Project inspired by Kipkay/MakeMagazine youtu.be The idea of making a speaker out of a paper plate is intriguing, and to do it for under a buck is even better. But first, we'll have to understand how a speaker works.

Home made vinyl cutter / incisore fonografico fatto in casa. Tube. Duration : 5.83 Mins.
This video shows the setting-up of a simple vinyl cutter. As a music/vinyl lover a real cutter was in my dreams but it was too expensive. This one has been made mainly from "trash" (old loudspeakers, hardware etc.). I used CDs as "blanks". The black ones really resemble a real record! The second part of the movie contains the audio from these "records" played with a portable turntable. I apologise for low video/audio quality (I did it with a cheap camera and audio is taken by camera mic as it is played back by the portable turntable speaker) and for my barking dog.

WHAT'S INSIDE MY POINT-SOURCE SPEAKERS? Tube. Duration : 7.32 Mins.
Making cross-overs is really simple stuff, once you get the basic idea. Chokes let only bass into a speaker. Capacitors only let treble into a speaker. The higher the value of the bass choke. the lower the bass. (opposite) (remember)! The higher the value of the treble capacitor, the lower the treble notes that it will let in. (also opposite) (easy to remember)! But you have to also experiment with your control resistors that are in series with the boom chokes and the tizz capacitor. The thump choke (5.6 value) is wired straight in series with the woofer. Then the boom choke (1.0 value) is in parallel with the thump choke. A control resistor (56 ohms) is in series with the boom choke. We don't want much boom in the woofer, most is in the full-range (for point-source sound). But no thump in full-range driver. With the full-range speaker, you have a basic music resistor (56 ohms) feeding all of the signal information but at lower than normal volume. It seems a high value resistor but the add-ons also contain some med and that adds to the basic music resistor. You then add tizz by having a tizz capacitor in parallel (about 3 mf value). And you know what to do if its too chuffy or has too much lower frequency treble (lower the value to 2 mf, as in my case). If it's too thin with too much higher frequency treble (increase to 4.7 mf). The same rule mentioned above! (remember). If it's a small bookshelf speaker, with hardly any bass, put a small resistor in series with the tizz ...

April Wind 11 Abha Torus First Resonance Tests Tube. Duration : 2.47 Mins.
Finished the 11" diameter 18x36 Abha Torus. It is a plastic slinky covered with duct tape to form the torus, wound CCW with #22 gauge magnet wire. Total of 12 wires, 12 turns per wire for a total of 144 turns. First tests shown here with a 1 inch diameter neoball spinner and Hall sensor, hooked to my 2 transistor pulse circuit. This demo shows the power resonances between the coil and the neoball after the power is turned off. Many different coils show this resonance but it seems more pronounced with the Rodin type coils. Thanks to Randy Powell for discovering the new Abha coil winding geometries such as this one called an 18x36. I plan to try various frequencies now that I finally have a 2-channel signal generator! Go to Google "Rodin Coil" group for more info, and circuit diagram. See also Randy's Youtube videos under the name "theabhakingdom" for understanding the vortex math and the mappings to the torus. checkout vortexspace.org site very good things Aloha

2010 F-150 Amplifier Installation Part Two Video Clips. Duration : 14.45 Mins.
Part two of my installation. Shows How to wire the Metra BT-5520 to add an amplifier to your stock stereo. Also shows the route taken for running speaker wires, and some tips for your installation. Thanks! Also check out my other videos for how to remove the Head Unit if you couldn't figure it out. The video was too long so I made a separate video for that. Materials Used: Panel Removal Kit Metra BT-5520 Wiring Harness Kicker ZX700.5 5 Channel Amplifier Kicker CK44 4-Channel Amp Install Kit (2x) Kicker ZISL (09ZISL) (Speaker Wire to RCA Conversion) Kicker ZXRC (10ZXRC) (Bass Remote Control) Single Subwoofer Box from SupercrewSound.com Alpine SWS-1043D Type-S Subwoofer 300w DVC @4ohms (4x) Infinity Kappa 682.9CF Door Speakers (6x9's) (100w @ 2ohms) **I used a roll of solder to fish the speaker wires through the side panels. I'm sure a coat hanger would work, but solder is more flexible and wont damage anything like a coat hanger might. **As noted in the video, if you used the same amplifier wiring kit, be aware that this kit comes with *barely enough* speaker wire to run through a supercrew. So don't leave a lot of slack on the ends as you will run out of wire. Any questions, leave in the comment section below. Thanks for watching!

Yep I bought me a sound system for my room. This is a lot like the one in my living room (which is also by RCA) this one has a built in Blu-Ray player and surround sound speakers. Only thing is there is no optical port for audio. So you use the old white and red composite audio cables to get the sound from the tv. It's a great 8 investment though and I'm really enjoying all the booming Boogerific sounds! -Booger

Lionel Lionmaster UP 4006 Big Boy with Legacy Tube. Duration : 5.50 Mins.
After adjusting the sound commander board, wires, and speaker arrangement in the Polar Express tender, I thought I would give my Lionel Lionmaster UP Big Boy 4006 with legacy a spin around the layout on the outer O48 main line. You can see the start of a new tunnel on one end. Also the Polar Express whistle is now louder than before since more of the air can escape from the tender. I did some low speed passes with the Big boy, medium and high ball so you can experience how it looks and sounds. Sorry I didn't have the smoke unit turned on, that's pretty cool too. In this video, I'm pulling traditional post war cars I had on hand, but normally I use scale Atlas boxcars and scale MTH hoppers, and an scale MTH or Kline caboose.
