How to remove the stock radio on a Volkswagen Golf , Bora, Beetle or Jetta MK4. You will need special tools to remove this stereo which can be purchase from your local auto parts or electronics store. These special tools can also be made by little pieces of steel or credit card plastic. Although I would be cautious about the credit card plastic because it can break. Once you insert the special tools on the slots on each side of the radio, this will unclip the deck from the dash and you can now pull it straight out. After you've removed the stereo, you can now continue to unplug the wires on the backside. Note: When removing the stereo, make sure you still have your access code in order for the stereo to work again if you intend to use it in the future.
